Knowing
your Cat:
The new kitten:
On arrival of your cat you will need first a litter tray there are
several styles. Some are open some are enclosed and some are equipped
with raised, detachable rims. The enclosed and raised-rim models are
designed to keep the litter inside the tray when the cat is using
it. Whatever the design, however, litter trays should be at least
19in. (48cm) by 15in. (38cm) by 4in. (10cm) deep and should be made
of sturdy, washable material.
Litter:
While most litter is sufficiently absorbent to perform the task requested
of it, no litter is entirely dust-free, no matter what the claims
of its manufacturer. As a rule, the finer the grains of the litter,
the more likely they are to get scattered about on the floor, especially
if the tray is not enclosed or fitted with a detachable rim.
Litter

In fact, the sturdier the better. And always have one or two spares
on hand.

neatly into that spot, thereby making the place more Comfortable for
your cat. And don’t be surprised if the cat then removes the
bed and sleeps in the spot as it was before.
Grooming
Implements:

to scratch. The post should b well anchored so that it will not tip
over when used, and should be tall enough so that an adult cat can
stretch, and thus exercise their muscles, while scratching.

cat home for the first time. You will also require a carrier when
taking your cat to the vet for annual check-ups, and for any emergencies.
Finally you may need the carrier to transport your cat about. A good
carrier as well as having a secure handle and an escape-proof door
latch, should be well ventilated and washable. Heavy moulded plastic
carriers are the best choice. They can be brought at any pet shop
or show.

To keep a cat in resplendent good health an owner must see that it
enjoys a safe, clean, comfortable environment: a balanced, nutritious,
invigorating diet: prompt, competent and kindly medical care: and
dependable and warmly loving human companionship. Another attribute
of a safe environment is cleanliness. A cat should not have to share
living space with fleas, mites, dermatophyte spores (ringworm) or
other bacterial intruders that can cause skin infections or allergies.
The cat’s environment is just as important to healthy skin as
are food and medical care.
